LEAKE STREET-THE BEST IVE SEEN THIS YEAR!

Yesterday was a brilliantly arty and creative day for me. started with an excellent walk along leake street, a day learning a new printing process [post later] and the evening a trip down east london seeing the excellent street art and the stolen space gallery

there wer some excellent offerings yesterday. i just love the way this place changes on a daily, if not hourly, basis

-some really well executed letters, well distorted and creative, and skillfully done. even the simple yellow one has an interesting style

-some brilliantly crafted characters-such skill!-simple green n black but fuck that is an excellent use of drawing-and with a spraycan!!??so hard to do!!

-and that beutiful character with the tattoos-great creativity great details i liked that idea alot.

and lots of cool stickers and even the odd collage!!

saw some grreat stuff in east london last night.ill make a seperate post to compare the two-alot of difference!

Tim Marrs illustration-[forward inspiration]

Came accross this illustrator in the book 'digital illustration' -a subject im highly interested in developing [AS IM ALWAYS WHINGING I WANT TO USE DIGITAL+HANDMADE-and this guy does it quite well!]-really anything of that nature is inspiring me now

there is alot of it.and this is it well executed

he likes to eat batteries and can do simple sums. when we go to sleep he turns off and has to be plugged in the wall to be recharged

-i think this little beginnings of a project marks my tip toe of an arrival into the realms of illustrator n proper computer design work. and i am feeling quite chuffed with myself i must say

as ive always said im quite hesitant, n a little bit scared almost of using computers to do my work, but i so want to embrace it n mix hand made with digital.-and im actually going to do that in a bit of a schitzophrenic way with this mini project....

...its to be parts of a mini childrens book for the OKIDO illustration project. the other images are going to be hand drawn with handwriting of a human.and will be about the differences of 'HUMAN VS ROBOT' and well with a title like that it took just about all of my maturity not to do a comic stip of some mental fight between a human and a robot [terminator!-its been done before]

so ive deliberately tried to make it a bit 'cute' and i do quite like it!made me quite happy i enjoyed this squidge of work this evening

...oh and when i say using a mix of hand made and digital, i mean litrally mixing it-not side by side as im doing for this project.

Delighted i came in today. voluntary workshop with darren- i did both the morning and afternoon one and very pleased i did

The ideas generation is always worthwhile and has reminded me to go back and look at the things we explored in the first weeks.

When getting a brief the of the following 'doctors'...

WHO?

WHAT?

WHERE?

WHEN? 

WHY?

HOW?

AND TO THINK ABOUT -WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE?

REVERSE/OUTRAGEOUS IDEA?

STEPPING STONE?

these really helped me with my current project i must remember these things.

-but things like Orlaghs and al the crazy research workshops, they helped i like them but am a bit cautious, well i dont like the idea of approaching strangers for their help to pick beads or empty their pockets so i can see more about them. still valid. 

i just need to find a way round this

and with this workshop i was delighted to get my hands on this approach-I did consider the idea over xmas and was planning on doing it with the small square black+white tiles and some grout onto wooden boards for this exhibition.

What i found in college..

Its really just the top image that really inspires me. i thought that was executed brilliantly, and in a really interesting and unique approach-using some kind of small stamp-similar to them japanese ones you see, and using different colours.really well done

but i also like these patterns at the bottom, painting on paper and ripping it out. interesting approach i like it.

-luckily we had the opportunity today to do something very similar which ill make a seperate post for...
