FABRIC LONDON artwork development

Currently working on a brilliant brief:
the artwork / branding for University of the Arts' freshers week festival

Part of that brief is the artwork for a special night at Fabric London and KOKO.
Heres some of the development work i went through.

I submitted this as a rough dirty prototype,  I am part of a small team of designers
so another team member, joe shi-probably the best most supportive and friendly person I've worked with so far-
is capably looking after the type.

I made this to give an indication of the visual direction i wanted to go down
it being collage, bright, energetic. generally loud.

I gave it some experiments and options.
one being coloured textures to act as a background to lift the type.

loved this colour and texture.
notice the subtle triangular pattern I fed in there.

From presenting the textures and new collages, i returned to my original submission,
finding much more energy and visuals i liked in it.

I worked up original suggestions and made these figure 11 targets more collaged and personal.
and less threatening [no more guns]

So I experimented with robots, weird faces and colour!
and messing about with pattern until I found something exciting!

For the final i took out some of the elements i had digitally, such as this stripey background,
i took them out and messed about getting more depth and texture,
simply trying things out like ripping and tearing the paper, rubbing and destroying it, printing it dozens of times on the photocopier, scanning it in and printing it in all wonky to achieve something with a bit more work and depth to put more energy and vibrancy into the piece.

Running Workshops!

I organised and ran a series of events and workshops and a shop through out the duration of LCC's Summer shows
with a small team of AMAZING graduates!

This was a 1st for any degree show at LCC, other shows to have some kind of
shop or interactivity but not of this length, depth and variety.

My aims for staging these:

1- Interactivity with the show

2-showcasing skills

3 -Visualising some of our working processes

4-showing the craft+creativity of the course

5-bringing people back into the show for the duration of the week
and also to keep a handful of us there at all times.

On top of this we organised, curated and put up a shop!

well happy! it was amazingly positive sharing the joys of simple craft,
the energy and excitement and intrigue from some people was really fulfilling,
especially seeing that 'ah! thats how!' kind of moment

enjoying the work you made! learning here how much control you have with your hands
and how sometimes perfect isn't always best

For a bit of creative fun we attempted an unofficial world record attempt for the worlds
LARGEST EXQUISITE CORPSE!

'exquisite corpse' is a collaborative drawing where each person draws part of something bigger
-but you don't know what was drawn before or after
so the end result is always loads of fun!

Workshop space, each day offered Screenprinting, badge making and exquisite corpse!

The evening we organised and took part in PECHA KUCHA presentations,
book launches and other goodies!

everyone could get involved! that was the beauty of it!

overall a success, it was great sharing some of the things i love, working with new people,  collaborating with some talented individuals and having some fun!

Wrong order. 1st 'Twillistation'

Early Twitter reports stated that yesterdays incident AKA 'michael greens big day out' -the tottenham court road hostage situation, -was being staged in Starbucks.

we later found out it was actually at the head office of the HGV testing centre.

-But at that early time I responded to current events with an illustration, suggesting that , that one little irritant ,whatever it may be, was the straw that broke the camels back as it where,
as clearly the many little stresses and injustices of 21st century life can heap up and up until we mentally meltdown,

..or storm the offices of your lifes problems whilst strapped to high pressure gas canisters

.."#tottenhamcourtroad
early reports suggest that starbucks may have got one order wrong too many?..."

I actually think we argue that this guys a hero in some respects,
he targeted a specific company, and specific employee's of that company, a company that has a long history of fucking people over, declaring bankruptcy, and coming back again under a slightly different name.
He had been fucked over by this company. not once, not twice but three times. It doesn't sound like a lot, failing a test. But when he was that adamant he passed it, the fact its clearly important to taking his life forward.

extreme yes, but hopefully these evil little pissy anonymous beaurocracies will think twice before depersonalising individuals and having absolutely no care for anything but themselves and bank account or the misery and frustration they create in order to get it

Political Collage anyone?

GARBAGE PAIL KIDS ARE AMAZING

Im loving these things! just what I'm into
bit of horror show type, bit of crazy illustration, bit stupid, but also reflecting bits of pop/modern culture

I particularly love how thyre being used in a modern setting as a vehicle for political or social comment
